the artist Bill Viola, Tacita Dean, and filmmaker Tarkovsky - in consideration of the use of time;
the writing of Robbe Guillet - the intensity of the felt response to detail; 

The importance of reading the writings of other artists, and those in different fields has acted as points of clarity and departure for my own work. I have found it useful to consider the translation in dancer terms as a way of unlocking tropes or habits. The other aspect that I am careful to avoid is coating practice in theory. More useful is finding writing that chimes with what is already happening in your work. Having said that we all come to these matters in our own way!
